Interment - United States Army Vietnam Veteran, Sgt James M. Travis, Chester, CA
The Patriot Guard Riders having been invited by the family of fallen United States Army - Vietnam Veteran, Sgt James M. Travis, to stand and honor during his Interment Service at the Chester Cemetery, Chester, CA. Sgt James M. Travis served his country proudly in the US Army from 17 Aug 1967 to 23 June 1969.
Sgt James M. Travis served in Vietnam as Lt Weapons- Infantry, with the 4th Battalion 9th Infantry, 25th Division in Tay Ninh. During his time in Vietnam, Sgt James M. Travis was awarded the following decorations : Bronze Star -Vietnam Service Medal - Vietnam Campaign Medal - Combat Infantry Badge - and the National Defense Service Medal.
Sgt James M. Travis was a proud US Army, Vietnam Veteran. After his Honourable discharge from the US Army, Sgt James M. Travis became involved in the Teamsters Union, becoming the President of Teamsters Local 853. Sgt James M. Travis also became involved in the Elks Lodge 2626, spending 8 years as the Bar Manager in Chester.
Sgt James M. Travis fulfilled his dream of living in Chester in 2000 with his wife Laura. Lake Almanor was the first place they travelled to after meeting in the Bay Area in 1975. Sgt James M. Travis was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and had a true love of the outdoors. Because of his love of life, his sense of humour and his love of family, Sgt James M. Travis will be missed by many.

began at 1100 hrs, at the Chester Cemetery, off of SR 36 and Sr 89 Chester, CA 96020.
