US Army - World War II Veteran Tech 5 Grover D. White - Susanville, CA
The Patriot Guard Riders having been invited by the family of fallen US Army WWII Veteran, Tech 5 Grover D. White, to stand and honor during his interment service at the Diamond Crest Cemetery, Susanville, CA.. The mission involved a flag line at the Diamond Crest Cemetery, Susanville, CA. for family and friends to pass through. On a beautiful, winter day, 12 PGR members showed to present Honors for this true American Hero and last of a great generation, where the PGR stood Honor Line at his final resting.
Tech 5 Grover D. White served during World War II with the 1931st Eng Aviation Company and participated in numerous campaigns in the South Pacific Theater, including New Guinea and the South Philippines. Tech 5 Grover D. White was decorated with the following Decorations and Citations - American Theater Campaign Medal - Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal with two (2) Bronze Stars – Philippine Liberation Medal - Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Tech 5 Grover D. White was a member of the famous Red Ball Express in the Philippines and later became an original member of the “First Cav”.
I would like to give a special thanks to PGR member Blake Hutchinson who had his granddaughter and her friend stand Honor Line with American Flags during this Mission. In addition to our Patriot Guard Riders we had a great representation of many groups on this Mission.
They include:
U. S. Army Honor Guard
Patriot Guard Riders
American Legion
Marine Corps League
Lastly, but not the least, I am thankful to Tech 5 Grover D. White, US Army WWII Veteran, an American Hero and last of a great generation, and his family. Your watch has been stood, your duty to protect this nation is complete, and you’ve earned the right to be called a true American Hero. Your service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Rest in Peace, your Mission is complete.
Respectfully,
RC - Rick "Taildragger" Schultz
