US Navy - World War II Veteran, Seaman 1st Class James O. Hedin, Quincy, CA
The Patriot Guard Riders having been invited by the family of fallen US Navy - World War II Veteran, Seaman 1st Class James O. Hedin, to stand and honor during his Interment Service in Quincy at the E. Quincy Laport Cemetery, Quincy, CA. Seaman 1st Class James O. Hedin served his country proudly in the US Navy from 15 Dec 1942 to his Honorable Discharge on 18 Feb 1944.
Seaman 1st Class James O. Hedin was awarded the following decorations during his time in the US Navy and his tour in the Pacific Theater : Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal – American Area Campaign Medal – Philippine Liberation Medal - Good Conduct Medal – WWII Victory Medal.
After his service in the US Navy, Seaman 1st Class James O. Hedin later moved back to his home town in Quincy, CA where he continued to serve his community as member of the Quincy VFW, a member of the Quincy Elks and served as Plumas County Veterans Services Officer from 1982 to 1986.
MEMORIAL SERVICES were held at the Methodist Church, Quincy CA, on Jackson Street following the funeral in East Quincy, CA 95971 - No PGR participation.
INTERMENT SERVICES
began at 11:00 hrs, at the East Quincy, Laport Cemetery – Hwy 89 and S Redberg Ave, Quincy CA 95971 (approx 1 block east of Quincy Fairgrounds entrance on south side of Hwy). This was with full Military Honors with US Navy personnel extending Honors.
