Final Mission Report - Interment Service For Fallen US Navy - World War II Veteran Seaman 1st Class L. “Bert” Nereim
The Patriot Guard Riders having been invited by the family of fallen US Navy WWII Veteran, Seaman 1st Class L. “Bert” Nereim, to stand and honor during his interment service at the Janesville Cemetery, Janesville, CA.. The mission involved a flag line at the Janesville Cemetery, Janesville, CA for family and friends to pass through. On a beautiful, winter day, 14 PGR members showed to present Honors for this true American Hero and last of a great generation, where the PGR stood Honor Line at his final resting.
Seaman 1st Class LeRoy “Bert” Nereim served during World War II on the Naval ship : USS Osage as a Seaman 1st Class and participated in numerous campaigns in the South Pacific Theater. Seaman 1st Class LeRoy “Bert” Nereim was decorated with the following Decorations and Citations - American Theater Campaign Medal - Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal – Philippine Liberation Medal - Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
I would like to give a special thanks to Reno Nevada PGR member Dave Kealey and his contingent who traveled to assist the Susanville PGR stand Honor Line with American Fags during this Mission. In addition to our Patriot Guard Riders we had a great representation of many groups on this Mission.

Lastly, but not the least, I am thankful to Seaman 1st Class LeRoy “Bert” Nereim, US Navy, WWII Veteran, an American Hero and last of a great generation, and his family. Your watch has been stood, your duty to protect this nation is complete, and you’ve earned the right to be called a true American Hero. Your service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
Rest in Peace, your Mission is complete.
